Las Terrazas B22, Mexico

BEST FOR A family of eight who want the Jack Nicklaus Signature course from the terrace, an ensuite for every bedroom and the resort pools a short walk away.

THE RESIDENCE Casa Azul sits at Las Terrazas, the address also known as Bahía 22 — a contemporary four-bedroom in the heart of Punta Mita, looking out over the Jack Nicklaus Signature course. Four and a half bathrooms for four bedrooms means nobody queues, and the layout has been thought about rather than merely counted: the primary suite takes a king with its own bath, the junior suite holds two doubles plus a daybed with a trundle, the third bedroom two more doubles, and the fourth a twin. That last pair is what makes it work for a family — the children can be near each other without being in with the adults.

There is a lift, which sounds prosaic until you are carrying luggage or travelling with someone who would rather not take stairs.

THE DAY Golf, mostly, if that is why you came — the course is the view and the reason. Otherwise the boutique resort-style pools are steps from the door, a cook handles breakfast, and the golf cart covers the distance to everything else Punta Mita has. The afternoons here are quiet in a way the beachfront ones are not, which some guests specifically want.

THE SETTING Las Terrazas, inside the Punta Mita gates, overlooking the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The beach clubs, the restaurants and the marina are all a cart ride away, and the membership that comes with the stay is what opens them.

GOOD TO KNOW Housekeeping, cook service, breakfast and concierge are included, along with a golf cart and club membership access. There is a lift in the building.
